Mind the Gap

So thanks to Julie we were prepared to hear "mind the gap"...and what does that mean:

Don't fall in between the Tube and the waiting area. I could have used this bit of advice before exiting our boat onto the dock in Parker :)

Well, we have been here for a week now! Sorry for the "gap" between sending out more communication but our means of communication has been sort of minimal to start with. There is really so much to say after only a week so I will try to keep it short but informative!

Time Pre-Angela Starting Work:

We arrived and were able to get used to the time change very quickly, I think a benefit of taking a red eye flight. And just an FYI when you bring 13 pieces of luggage on a plain not only is it a hassle it also is very costly :) We spent the first 5 days getting familiar with the city and walking and tubing EVERYWHERE!!! We were able to see a lot of the most popular tourists spots this way and also start to get used to public transportation and the city. The weather last weekend was amazing, it was SD weather actually. Ask a Londoner though and they will tell you the weather changes every 15 minutes and ohhhhh is that true. Within a small span of time yesterday, I saw the weather change from perfectly sunny, to pounding rain, to cloudy, and back to sunny.

This city is truly amazing. All of the culture is wonderful and we are really enjoying ourselves so far. This is a completely different lifestyle then we are used to but we both think its great! We have been to several pubs and Chris and I both have tried different types of English brews. Although, I have heard that each pint has about 200 calories in it so I am going to have start running around the beautiful park thats across the street from our flat!!!! Yes, we were able to secure a flat today! You all would be amazed at what you get for your money....ummmmm...well...not 857 Via La Venta thats for sure! We have settled in Clapham which is in the Southwest part of the city and is close to wonderful High Streets (main roads with shops, restaurants, pubs, etc) and the main part of London. Our place takes up 3 floors but is only 1 bedroom...odd? Well I guess you will have to come visit to find out for yourself :) We live right across the street from a beautiful HUGE park which is lovely and have a little backyard which we share with one other tenant.

My favorite thing so far is meeting all sorts of people. It is truly eye opening. We went up on the London Eye last Sunday which was fantastic and allowed us on the beautiful sunny day to see the entire city. We are thinking of heading to Belgium at the end of the month to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. We are saving Switzerland for December and of course will be visiting the glorious US in November :)

I need to get back to work because as most of you can already guess, these people have figured out that I am a sucker and have put me to work straight away :) We miss you all very much and would love to hear from you, please pass the blog onto anyone you can think of because I was very bad at saving emails etc.

XO, Angela

Hello Dear Chris and Angela,

How exciting! And, I'm thankful to God that you arrived alright, are doing well, and enjoying yourselves.

I don't think too many people are looking at your site for an update, because we've been so excited, we've been looking every day...only to learn that you're having more fun there than remembering all of us :((

But, alas, you're "back"! Yayyy

It's enjoyable to read everything; so, please blog as often as you can. Tell Chris he has to write sometimes too. Actually, he's pretty good at it...he used to write articles for "Cyclenews" when he traveled Europe a few years back. They were always enjoyable to read. He said that he loved the Belgium tracks the most...and you're about to visit the country as a couple. Awwwwwww

Ashley is engaged. She and Mauricio are planning a late Sept/early Oct 2009 wedding--perhaps in Puerta Vallarta. They will be there for Thanksgiving, and have appointments with venues. It won't be until after that that we'll find out for sure if it will be there, or in San Francisco.

Everyone is doing good here. We love and miss you, and always praying for you and your safety.

Love, Mom (Gina)

I am so happy for you! I need an address to your new flat "straight away..." I don't even know if I am saying that correctly! I miss you tons. I am sitting here with tears down my face, because you feel so far away, but my tears are also of joy because I can feel how happy you are! I love you so much. Put pictures of your flat on soon! Love always, Emily Grunt

Chris and Angela,
This is so cool, I am so jealous. Congrats on the new flat, very nice area of the city. When you go to Belgium you need to go Bruge of course, where else are you planning to go? Good luck
