An American version of a Mexican Fiesta in London

Yes, three cultures in one subject line! Saturday night we hosted our first gathering in our tiny flat. There were eight of us (7 Americans and our resident Canadian) that decided we were in dire need of some good Mexican food. So I offered to host and made white chicken enchiladas, rice, beans, and vegetarian fajitas. We also partook in some great homemade pico de gallo, guacamole, and 7 layer dip. And of course what would a Mexican party be without margaritas :) It was a success! We had a great time and it was nice to do something here that I love to do at home, entertain. Via la Venta is a little more conducive to entertaining than the Stack (thats what our flat is known as) but it was still great fun!

Chris and I bought a few items to furnish our flat this weekend. We bought this really cute white dresser for our room that was delivered yesterday. It was already assembled which was really nice but we knew that it would be a challenge to carry it up 3 flights of narrow stairs! And it was, I thought I was going to die. We basically put numerous knicks in the walls and a few scrapes on the wood floors, whoops! And by a quarter of the way up floor 3 we realized there was no way that this dresser would make it up to the top. So Chris had to take it apart and reassemble. This probably isn't as funny to all of you as it was to me, but once you see our place and see this dresser and where we tried to move it...you will realize....we are both way too optimistic :)

What else??? Ahh yes, does anyone know what its like to go without hot water for 2 days? Well we do!!!! And while the water itself we can live without, the fact that flats in London are heated by hot water made the few days realllyyyy cold!!!!
